Avoid Winter Freeze ups

Below are just a few of the steps you can take to avoid a freeze up and a denial of a freeze up claim.

Inspect your home for openings that allow cold air to enter. Insulate, foam or caulk all openings.
Turn off and drain outside water fixtures.
During EXTREME cold weather, leave laundry rooms, vanity & cupboard doors open.
If you use a wood stove or pellet stove, be sure to allow your heating system to run throughout your entire home.
Keep your thermostat at a minimum of 62 degrees. Plumbing can still freeze in areas of your home when the thermostat is at its lowest setting.
If you go on VACATION, set your thermostat to a min.of 62 degrees or higher. Turn off the breaker to your well pump or turn off the water main at the meter.
SNOWBIRDS- Be sure to turn off and drain all plumbing in your home regardless if you keep the heat on or not. Set your thermostat no lower than 62 degrees. Arrange to have someone check your home daily.
